NEW REEL ELIMINATES MANUAL REEL ADJUSTMENTS
An innovative reel from
Locke Turf delivers a consistently high quality cut over months of use without
operator or mechanic adjustments. The new patented design greatly reduces
the frequency of back lapping and virtually eliminates the need for
adjustments.
The new Locke Turf Victory reel uses a unique patented design to deliver a
high quality cut day after day and week after week. It eliminates the time
consuming work of manual adjustment. It also eliminates the inconsistent
mowing performance that can result when adjustments of conventional reels
aren't made as bed knives and reel blades wear, said Don Cotton, general
manager.
Locke Turf has operated
the reels on golf courses for months with no adjustments necessary and only
occasional back lapping.
"For years, the greatest
obstacle to a consistently high quality mowing performance on golf courses
was the frequency with which reel blades must be adjusted," Cotton said.
"Daily or even twice daily adjustment can be required to produce a high
quality cut. Reel adjustment is really two problems:the time-consuming
problem of making the adjustments and the inconsistent cut that can result
when adjustments aren't made correctly or frequently enough. The Victory
reel eliminates the need for manual adjustments under normal usage. It
ensures the same high quality cut from the first green or tee to the last
and eliminates costly labor."
Cotton said the Victory
reel was made possible by an engineering breakthrough.
He explained that for
decades, engineers trying to design a reel mower that would not require
frequent manual adjustment were frustrated by the tendency for the leading
edge of the conventional reel to "strike" the front edge of the bed knife
causing "chatter," vibration and excessive wear to the reel and bed knife
and requiring frequent adjustment to maintain a quality cut. The Victory
reel's unique V shape solves this problem. The V shape creates two support
points between the reel and the bed knife on each side of the leading edge.
Conventional reels have none. The two support points mean a spring system
can maintain perfect reel to bed knife contact without operator or mechanic
adjustment. Hours of adjustment time are eliminated, a consistently high
quality cut is delivered, there is no need for back lapping in most cases
and bed knife wear is significantly reduced.
The new Locke Turf Victory
reels fit many models of Toro, Jacobsen, Ransomes and John Deere Tri-Plex
Greensmowers. |
